Frequently Asked Questions

Who can participate?

Any high schooler can participate! If you're starting college in the fall, you can participate, too! However, just because you're not a high schooler doesn't mean you can't help out. If you have a passion for computer science and are interested in coming, please sign up to be a mentor or lead a workshop!

What can I make?

Anything you'd like! Come up with your favorite idea and make it reality! Use any programming languages, development stacks, APIs, and other tools you'd need. If you can't think of any ideas or need some inspiration, check out DevIdeas and continue on from there.

What if I don’t know how to code?

Don't worry! We'll have mentors and workshops available to help you for the entire duration of the event! All we ask from you is the will to learn and create something that you can be proud of.

How much does it cost to attend?

Short answer: nothing. Long answer: $0.00. Yup! We'll provide you with the resources, tools, mentors, and food, all for free. The only thing that we need from you is a will to learn!

What should I bring to the hackathon?

We'll provide the hardware (Tessel boards, Pebble watches, Surface Pro tablets, etc.), but you should bring:
     A laptop + charger
     A cellphone
     Sleeping bag (recommended)
At least two sets of clothes
     Basic toiletries

Do I need to be at the venue at all times?

Due to security reasons, you must stay in the building at all times. If you have an emergency or really have to leave, don't worry. We'll work it out.

What's the max team size? What if I don't have a team yet?

The maximum number of people on a team is four. However, if you would like to go solo or work with fewer people, that works as well! If you don't have a team yet, don't worry. We'll have a team building session right before hacking starts!

Who's organizing the hackathon?

A team of students, including Anuraag Yachamaneni (Executive Director), Shrey Gupta (Senior Director), Dheeraj Yachamaneni (Director of Hacker Experience), Karthik Maiya (Sponsorship Team), Kunal Naik (Social Media Manager), and Sayan Paul (Logistics Team).
